Myoro Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Heh, I guess no matter which character you main, you'll take flak for it. If you pick a high tier character, people complain about how bad you are at the game and how cheap your character is and tell you that you couldn't win without your OP character. If you pick a low tier character, people complain about how bad you are at the game and that you just want to be a special snowflake™ and couldn't win even with a high tier character, so you just want to blame your incompetence on your character. If you pick an average or easy character, people complain about how bad you are at the game and that you're just playing that character because everyone else is and they hate fighting the armies of your character all the time. If you pick a character someone or their main is bad against, they complain about how bad you are at the game and how the only reason you can win is because your character is cheap or has an unfair advantage against their character. The simple answer is pick Relius, he slips by everyone's radar.
Dark Ranger88 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Or pick their own character and beat them in a mirror match. How can you complain after that? How could they say that a mirror match isn't fair?
NecroTheReaper Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Throughout all my time playing as Relius, I've had people complain about the Relius MU, but I've never heard someone complain that Relius is so cheap or OP. People that bash on yo for yout main are bitches. I have played and will always play my well balanced Relius >:/
Dances w Ninjas Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 "Yo, I have a 1-bar connection with this guy. He would probably rather play with me than that 3/4-bar guy he's playing."
Grimsley-San Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Or pick their own character and beat them in a mirror match. How can you complain after that? How could they say that a mirror match isn't fair? I got a RQ in a Tager mirror match today. lol
Myoro Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I got a RQ in a Tager mirror match today. lol It was clearly because you cheated. You totally hacked the game to make your Tager better than his! He wasn't rage quitting, he was kindness quitting to save you from dishonoring yourself further.
tetora_desu Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 The biggest one for me. People who overly stick up for Koko and people who blindly cry about her with barely any knowledge.
Stellarcircle5 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 It's fine, I never try to dodge Mu or Noel players. I actually try to play them more so that I eventually learn not to get bodied by the Mu and Noel army. It's just not an enjoyable experience 80% of the time. Now that you mention dodging certain characters, I always wondered why I don't get many games with people who actually want to play me. Its like they see the little Valk sprite and see themselves to the other side of the lobby
NecroTheReaper Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Only matches I dodge are Relius mirrors. Not sayin I don't win, me and Myoro have a pretty even record (think he's slightly ahead of me), but a game vs Relius tests your most basic of skills, there's not really a lot to it. Pretty much whoever does shit faster wins, and that's not really MU exp to me xP xD
susano Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 "Yo, I have a 1-bar connection with this guy. He would probably rather play with me than that 3/4-bar guy he's playing." ^ This, so much. -__-
Myoro Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 That's rushdown vs rushdown alright, momentum controls the whole thing. Doesn't help that Relius is an inherently silly character what with his crazy pressure, and bonkers neutral, and a joke of a defensive game, watching two of him go at it is really a sight to behold even to those playing. That and punching out your identical twin and his identical wife is always gonna be a weird feeling. And even then I'm just about the most bizarre Relius that's ever been, treating ley like it was SSBM's dodges and attempting unblockables midscreen. Play against HARD_BREAD or Cuyosentenel and you'll probably get a different experience.

A peeve I've had recently is people trying to mirror match me. Especially when I want to play their mains. ;_;
White Man Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 A peeve I've had recently is people trying to mirror match me. Especially when I want to play their mains. ;_; There's no way someone can do this that it doesn't look like they're insulting you. If they mirror you after you've beaten them, it's like they're saying you only won because of your character and look see they can be cheap and scrubby too. If they mirror you after they've beaten you, it's like they're saying you're so bad that they need to demonstrate the proper way to play the character so you don't embarrass yourself further. I know their true motive is probably neither of these in the vast majority of cases. Still, that won't stop me from narrowing my eyes and whispering "You asshole..." every time it happens.
Kriegdrache Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Actually, it was against a Bang that beat me, I was like "okay" I'll run it back, pick Hakumen again and then he picks Haku and I'm like "wow okay", but then I just went and won so it all worked out :V

You don't really have to dodge Izayoi mirrors though since nobody uses her anyway, but it's funny when it happens, because you're both all like "SONIC SABER! SONIC SABER! SONIC SABER! SONIC SABER! SONIC SABER!".

The reason why I don't like mirror matches is that one of the biggest draws this game has for me is how fundamentally different all the characters are. Everybody with distinct strengths and weaknesses, and there's so many unique matchups. Play a mirror -- any mirror -- and the diversity goes out the window. It feels a bit like "No items, Fox only, FINAL DESTINATION!"

Arcus Diabolus Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 The only other peeves I have aren't really peeves I suppose. More along the lines of being frustrated at myself for making a noob mistake that I even should have made in the first place and then lose to someone who hasn't played the game for more than a few weeks. Namely Tager 360 spammers. I'm like a moth to a open flame with this as a Ragna and Noel Main... (Note to self, next time Optic-fucking-barrel his ass at long range and jump close range T_T)

OmnixTSC Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I love the mirror matches I play in this game. Hakumen vs Hakumen, Makoto vs Makoto, Valk vs Valk, Jin vs Jin. They're all so comical. I don't think I'm ever bothered when I play them unless the other person derps thinking I won't expect something when I'm using the same character

One guy i played kept blocking 6B so i ended up doing like 6B 214A RC 2B just to be stylish mirror matches are pretty fun, basically
Kriegdrache Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Oh don't get me wrong, I don't mind mirror matches, I just go "oh okay!" when they decide to bust out the day 0 pocket sub for you.
Arcus Diabolus Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I remember watching a Noel Mirror while searching online for game-play and it was one of the more funny and intense matches I've seen in a while.
