FatedSoulBlake Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) General Discussion about your transition between CSEX and Chronophantasma Things you like? Things you don't like? New challenges you face? Maybe you found a new main? Right now I'm having trouble intoing CP Litchi. A lot has changed (for me at least) between the two versions so I'm going to have to do a lot of practicing to get back to where I was in CSEX. My friend who plays Jin looks like he made a really smooth transition and might actually be a lot better now with new Jin. I'm also really liking Overdrive! I get such a rush when I do an Overdrive Distortion. Especially with Makoto. Edited November 4, 2013 by FatedSoulBlake Added [CP] tag to title
Verimeloni Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 First of all, everything in this game is golden. With that said, I feel like I have no main anymore. I used to play Tsubaki but her CP iteration is so different I'm thinking should I try to "relearn" her or just focus on Azrael. Only thing that really bugs me: you can't listen to BGMs in Gallery?
susano Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) I just can't get into Nu so I found a new main with Terumi. I want to use a character I enjoy. But yeah, the transition has been tough for me as well. I like the overdrives a lot. What I don't like is Nu's mode change. It looked cool at first but there's something I just don't like about it. That's just how I feel. Edited November 4, 2013 by susano
Kriegdrache Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I like the game overall, but trying to learn new Haku has me in utter despair. Kuyashidrache
Boodendorf Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 There are very few differences between Relius Ex and Relius CP, he plays nearly the same but with slightly more tools now. Getting rid of his EX combos was a pain though, sometimes even now I still do the old and inneficient combo lol.
gli Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I like BBCP. I can play solid and have no regrets :V
A.X.I.S. Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Easy transition for me. I had no issues so far.

I used to play Tsubaki but her CP iteration is so different I'm thinking should I try to "relearn" her or just focus on Azrael. Only thing that really bugs me: you can't listen to BGMs in Gallery? That's why I always try to have at least 2 characters in a fighting game that I'm decent with. I'm liking Makoto more in CP than I did before, but I want to get better as new Litchi because she's been my main since CT. Azrael is hella fun though. He reminds me of Slayer in a way. Probably mainly because of his dash. I played a match with Tsubaki and she does seem different than before, though I can't really say too much about it because I don't play her enough. I just can't get into Nu so I found a new main with Terumi. I want to use a character I enjoy. But yeah, the transition has been tough for me as well. I like the overdrives a lot. What I don't like is Nu's mode change. It looked cool at first but there's something I just don't like about it. That's just how I feel. I like Terumi a lot too. He just goes. I need to practice some more with him to understand what each input does but his moveset, it just works! Don't give up in the transition. I was getting kinda bitchy the other night because new Litchi wasn't doing what I wanted her to. But then I just listen to this and remember that Boys Don't Cry. There are very few differences between Relius Ex and Relius CP, he plays nearly the same but with slightly more tools now. Getting rid of his EX combos was a pain though, sometimes even now I still do the old and inneficient combo lol. Man I've been doing the same thing with Litchi. She has this new dash move with a 421C[e] input that's apparently really good in combos and another new move, but I just keep sticking with her Three Dragons even though it's not as good now. Also, as a side note, it's nice to see another JoJo fan. All I think of when I use Makoto's Overdrive Distortions is Jonathan. Furueru zo haato! Moetsukiru hodo hiito! Kisamu zo, ketsueki no biito! PARTICLE FLARE OVERDRIVE!
FatedSoulBlake Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Easy transition for me. I had no issues so far. I wish my life was as easy as yours.
Betto Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Been doing Hazama j.Cx5[x3] loops and Valk TK Mondlicht -> 6C -> 3C -> 236B enders since EX so pretty much both managed to catch on (in a way) when I went over to CP. However, the fact that Hazama's 5C became non-jump cancelable on block and Valk's change with C to D wolf dashes hit me pretty hard but I guess I'll have to deal with those changes, haha.
FatedSoulBlake Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Seems like most people are having that same issue. A few moves don't quite work the same way that they did before. It's hitting me hard too. Do your mains feels any different to control/play as though?
Kyosuke Kagami Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) No big problems, except that some moves have different properties. It took me 3 hours to realize you have to be on neutral to de-transform with Valky :v Inputs wise, nothing out of the extraordinary. I mean, IMO inputs aren't as strict as, let's say, Guilty Gear's. Edited November 4, 2013 by Kyosuke Kagami
Eternal Blaze Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 the whole dp input is still killing me (I've always done as 6236 I guess and trying to stop at 3 is messing with my flow :v Aside from that I got no complaints
gwcommander Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I had a hard time as a Jin player. I used ice car so much it wasn't funny. Though not the best player out there but kind of learning how to use Jin now and really getting into Yuki Terumi
Pen_Ninja Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I play Carl and I had some trouble with the new properties of Ada's moves. Things like doing 6D in the corner and expecting a wall bounce on air hit or doing 4D and expecting the forced wall bounce but instead getting the slide or backwards hit respectively. It was just kind of confusing for a while when Ada would slap people with 4D and they'd go behind her. It ruined a few combos. The other problem was not being able to combo out of 623C without Ada. It just kind of ruined my usual game plan.

Though not the best player out there but kind of learning how to use Jin now and really getting into Yuki Terumi I don't main Jin so my info might not be right, but didn't they really have ice car nerfed since the transition from CT to CS? I remember that it was like really, really good in CT. But I've noticed it hits lower now. What else has changed? Personally I think that Jin has gotten a lot better based upon what I have seen my friend do with him.
SonGohanX Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I like the game on its own, but prior to this, the last BB I enjoyed was CS1. (Hated CS2, and only barely touched EX) The game overall seems solid, much more fun than CS2. I still miss CS1 Ragna though. CP Ragna feels very weak in comparison, so I may try to find a new main.

I dunno why you'd feel this way; Overall, it seems like CP is less solid than Extend in terms of balance, and CS2 and CSE were hands down better than CS1... >.<
DragonLordZ Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 At the very beginning, all I felt for CP Bang was an unfathomable, black hole of rage that I felt would consume me and everything around me and signal the trumpeter to call about the end of all things and bring the universe to its peaceful end. But now I'm getting used to him, he still has massively retarded changes like the pushback that 623B has on hit but all things considered I think I can keep playing him and avoid switching to Valk.
Moy_X7 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I absolutely hate the combo timer system. Now you have to worry about the timer itself butchering your combo along with moves that have a poor P2. It's not so bad for Jin but Plat just feels like a completely different character, combo-wise. Other than that, CP is ok. I'm really, REALLY going to miss CSE Plat though, she's just not the same anymore.
SonGohanX Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) I mostly hated all the changes to the combo system in CS2. CS1 gave you so much freedom, and CS2 took most of that away. (i.e. comboing off of sweeps and what not) Also, it seems like the more the series progressed, untechable times on moves decreased that didn't really need to. Edited November 9, 2013 by SonGohanX
Haven Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I dunno why you'd feel this way; Overall, it seems like CP is less solid than Extend in terms of balance, and CS2 and CSE were hands down better than CS1... >.< Balance and fun are two entirely different things. EX was my least favorite BB, super boring despite how balanced it was. CS2 was balanced and 1, CS1 was unbalanced and fun. CP has to be my favorite BB despite not being as balanced, it's fun, faster, and actually has new mechanics to tamper with.
Luminos564 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 So, I am stuck having to wait until March but I was hoping someone could give me a small heads up for the future when I do get my hands on CP. As of Extend, I decided to drop Haku-men, a character I've been using since CT in favor of Mu-12. And though I am utter garbage with her, it has been fun learning (still have a long way to go) and trying to kill my Haku-men habits. But basically, are the things I'll spend so long learning as EX Mu-12 be useful or matter once transitioning to CP? Or would it be better not to stick with her in Extend too much and keep myself open for other characters that also took my interest (Terumi, Kagura, Azrael and Kokonoe)?

Maybe I'm not the best person to answer this but I really feel like she hasn't changed all that much. It's likely your corner combos will be a little different in CP. Some other changes include that you can no long 63214C off of your overhead, you'd need to do Overhead -> 6C -> 63214C, which actually does more damage. Compared to some of my other characters, I feel she hasn't changed much at all. I don't really know how to utilize her new tools, however.
Justice7541 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I don't think the basic playstyle of any character has radically changed except maybe Nu. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
