Errol Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I think the point here is that as long as the devs still have imagination there really is no "reason" for any char in any game to be bad. Besides each character technically having a limitless amount of options on paper, some of which don't even have to make sense, the devs can give any character an extremely strong normal, special or gameplan. Basically, devs are Gods of their own little game world and its their and their team's say on what a character gets and how it should be handled. That said, unless you know the dev personally, there's no way in hell you can say this character is forever bad or good. All we know for sure is that valkenhayn, litchi, Jin and hazama have been consistently top for a long time - and neither one of them is "safe" in the next game, even still. @stylish rachel was bad in CS. CSE she was ok I specifically asked N-O once about rachel across versions came out like this CP1.1=CP1.0>EX>CS2>CP2 CT wasn't listed
StylisH Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Why in the world would they change Bang's drive?
TD Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I specifically asked N-O once about rachel across versions came out like this CP1.1=CP1.0>EX>CS2>CP2 CT wasn't listed Not surprised. Every other nerf would be fine, but wind regen is the character. Once wind regen is slow or IOH is lost, she plummets. And this is no exception. At least she still looks 'viable', that is at least until she has to fight a hazama or nu. Unlike CS, where she would have been better off observing.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Actually, this should be good for discussion; what do you guys think of your characters across all of the versions? And no, this isn't to bitch about how much they currently suck, I just want something to talk about and an opinion of who everyone plays.
chzchan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Wish I played the game long enough to experience the older versions of the character I use since I started at Extend. Her CS2 version was apparently really good, but just based on what I have read and the few years that I have played, she has been changed over the recent iterations of the game to be less reliant on her drive mechanic which has its upsides and downsides.
CosmicShadow99 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Actually, this should be good for discussion; what do you guys think of your characters across all of the versions? And no, this isn't to bitch about how much they currently suck, I just want something to talk about and an opinion of who everyone plays. Well I think everyone would agree that Tager has had a steady incline in power throughout the versions. While Arakune they've tried to make more balanced and less face-roll win! BBCP Arakune has been my favorite iteration of him to play.
mAc Chaos Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Tager's had a steady increase in overall goodness, but he still had stylistic differences that let a lot of Tager players be not happy with how he developed in different games. Mike Z hated what they did to CT Tager in CS1 for instance.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I only played from EX too, but I heard CT Hakumen was pretty bad. CS1 Hakumen was decent and CS2 Hakumen was pretty good. EX Hakumen was a fucking monster. It's arguably his most solid iteration because of how consistent he is in all areas; he had decent damage from anywhere on screen and needed less stars to get it too. His normals were actually good(+2 2B?, WHAT!) and his defensive options had a solid risk/reward to them. If you knew how to play neutral effectively, he was virtually unstoppable against anyone not named Tao, Hazama, or Valkenhayn :V. CP1.0 gave him a lot of unfortunate nerfs; shortened counter-catch window, they can be blocked now, 6D had increased startup rendering it useless. Etc etc. But they did give him some neat things too. Agito made air approach easier and it was safe on block, being able to combo from CH 6B was cool and CH 3C>5C was nice too. And of course, the clutch Air Grab>OD combos, which were pretty much the only thing that let him stand out and be a monster. He was decent, not as strong as his EX self, but still viable. CP1.1 is basically 1.0 without the OD clutcheness, so you had to actually think a bit more. But getting the right read yielded loads a damage still. CP2 is looking pretty...meh; they nerfed him some more( notice a pattern yet) so now he's just...average honestly. He still does a fuckton of unburstable damage, but mainly from a 5C starter. It's basically "How well can you read your opponent" the experience with him.
mAc Chaos Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Haku order of power goes like this:EX > CS1 > CP1.0 > CP 1.1 > CS2 > CTAlthough I could switch EX and CS1. EX had more corner carry but he had more raw power in CS1. jD into 4.5k, stuff like that.Might switch CS2 for CP1.1 too.
CosmicShadow99 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Tager's had a steady increase in overall goodness, but he still had stylistic differences that let a lot of Tager players not happy with how he developed in different games. Mike Z hated what they did to CT Tager in CS1 for instance. That is true. Tager's hit/magnetism properties flop all over the place. CS extend was probably my favorite there as far as combos are concerned. Though I would like to try CP extend tager after seeing him.
TD Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Rachel has been the very best, absolute worst, and everywhere in the middle. She has been filthy rich, dirt poor, middle class... Now she's near the poverty line again after enjoying a recent source of income a little too greedily. Now she's on a budget. What she needs to do is start drinking people and then she will be unstoppable again. Litchi has never really been bad ever. Still good even in the new game, but she's still challenging so. Amane is following in tsubaki's footsteps. Not good Who else... Carl always switches. One minute he's all unblockables and the next he's a solid character. Been like that since CT. He's still one of the coolest chars in the game imo, if only he had a run dash...
skd Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Izayoi and Terumi are supposedly powerful as their design states, but both are bottom tier in 1.1. no chill ***IZAYOI POWER RANKINGS*** CP2>/=CP1.1>>>>>CP1.0 ***RAGNA POWER RANKINGS*** CP2>EX>CP1.1=CP1>CS1>CS2>CT Edited February 3, 2015 by not_lunaris
BlackYakuzu94 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 It seems like Extend is the golden time for Ragna.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I feel like Jin fluctuates between solid and good, to meh. Power Ranking :V CP2>CP1.0/CP1.1>CSE(don't have enough info for anything below :V)
StylisH Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Actually, this should be good for discussion; what do you guys think of your characters across all of the versions? And no, this isn't to bitch about how much they currently suck, I just want something to talk about and an opinion of who everyone plays. Valk has always been tha gawd. He has gotten more difficult to dominate with every new iteration, but he was already a monster to deal with as it was, so it's not like he didn't have it coming. Izayoi has just gotten better from CP. She still has a ways to go, but from what I've seen of 2.0, she will be a real problem. I'm still of the belief that she could use some help gaining stocks in bad MUs (Tao, Valk, Arakune) but it seems she can rock with anyone now. Ginger Chick for president.
SixWingedAngel Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 As for Bang, I feel like his FRKZ and seal gain adjustments in CP1.x have been a real hit. His new tools are great and very fun to play, but it's just not the same thing as an easy to get, permanent FRKZ power-wise. Luckily his buffs in CP2 are exciting and place him above his CP1.x counterparts.
Litherain-XIII Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Well since we talking about iterations of characters ill just throw out some notes of noel from my experiences. Noel: CS2 > EX > CP1.1 > CP1.0 > CT > CS1 CS2 she essentially was the 2nd best character in the game tier list wise behind Makoto. Ridiculously good damage and good + normals. anti air option selects and the infamous Haida loop that dropped 5 ~ 6K on board for no reason. Easily the best noel overall. EX was her 2nd best and is my favorite iteration of them all. still had great + normals and her pressure game was very solid with great frametraps and pressure resets that can easily net her 3 ~5k if opponents were hitting buttons. Lost her anti air option select. Had access to her Haida loop still and consistent 4 ~ 6k damage with it and pissed out heat like Hazama with full stage corner carry when used. Access to her SMP loop having the most consistent variant of it in the game netting her 7 ~ 8K off it and near 80 heat off it as well. drives vary on usage for different players. 4D was the gawd on FC basically 4D = 5 ~ 8K. CP 1.1 & 1.0 nerfed normals and pressure. Mix ups is stronger by drives. Drives sped up. frame advantage nerfed. still decent consistent dmg. First iterations to have her own way to end hit confirms into a complete combo midscreen via chamber shot without sacrificing heat to RC into a 6A to launch into a 2k combo in every other iteration. First inclusion of her own oki. Drives 4D , 6D and d.4D are now able to bait dps and DDs. 22B oki is solid enough to maintain control of opponents wake up but lacks a way to force respect on wake up in a way that imitates tru oki like rachel's George XIII oki that allows you to not have to commit into anything on their wake up. 4D anti air viability is nerfed. CT she was pretty good. Had +3 5A. her normals were very good for frame advantage. 2D was an OH back then. 6C was an anti air was well with Invul frames. Haida loop and good damage. limited mix up and lacks alot of her gatlings she has now in CP or from EX. incredibly slow optic barrel and was impossible to use it. took over 30 frames for it to even come out by that time the opponent isnt even in the location of its initial intended use. solid overall for her first start. potential was there. CS1 she was... terrible. mix up was still not that great. frame advantage was nerfed. did great damage but had poor ways to obtain it viably outside of 5D being fully invuln and an occasional 2D. 5D easily was stuffed with a throw if you knew it was coming. risky to play and was bottom tier with rachel and tager at the time C tier. Wasnt really tournament viable as her neutral game is always a weakness she had in every BB. Very slow optic barrel practically useless as her CT version.
mAc Chaos Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 ^Do you remember how + Optic Barrel was on block in CT? All the old CT frame data sites are RIP.It was never used to be an outright projectile, but to just lock down the opponent for a moment to help her get in.
Tong Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I feel like Jin fluctuates between solid and good, to meh. Power Ranking :V CP2>CP1.0/CP1.1>CSE(don't have enough info for anything below :V) Jin's would be like: CS1> CS2> CT=CP 1.0>2.0> CP 1.1> CSEX. Ragna CS1 definitely the strongest, he had the best rewards (damage+meter+oki anywhere) off virtually any confirm. He couldn't reverse beat his blockstrings but he had so many options anyways that it didnt hinder his ability to pressure. DID had some invul too and any combo off it does 3k+ at least. He also didnt need any meter to deal decent damage off most confirms... a godlike character. If anything he ties with EX Ragna in terms of strength (both were upper/top tier iirc). And I also think the CS1 DLC characters were abominations LOL.
The Puppeter Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Dora Bang Tier List : S : Hazama , Valkenhayn , Jin .
