He couldn't possibly mean Sanchez, though. That guy is the only reason I think this stupid fucking game is fun at all.

"Awwww, you're a scared masher! You're garbage, dawg, get the fuck outta here."

That should be Jin's win quote, imo.

I totally got it, Mike. Now you're just pulling the hand switch behind your back.

And, I don't believe I would ever hurt another human being. Ever. EVAR. :kitty:

(Kitty face is just because TaoFTW posted in here.)

Oh, I think we all assumed it was Sanchez. We're just horribly sarcastic people. Unless SJ really does dislike TheBiter. Geez, he stopped strangling those infants after the first two. Let it go already!

Also, what the heck - I haven't seen Ken or Gnat in person in forever, and suddenly here they are in the thread!

I be lurkin, yo.

Hey y'all. Trying to get back into the game. What is a good day for competition at AI (outside of tournaments)?

If you plan on heading down there, let me know and we'll carpool or some shit.

Is it peter? haha

I know his only reason for playing is to make me hate the game..

A couple announcements:

1) If you're wondering where last week's results are, I have them, I'm just busy/lazy and I'll get them up soon.

2) SF4 is over! That means we can move to Bi-weekly now, if people will show up. I'm thinking the 8th or 9th. The 9th is Mother's day, so that's a maybe. Not sure on the format yet, but if people have preferences, it might be a good time to let me know.

3) We're foregoing the venue fee for the next tournament! This is AI's measure of good will if you help them out with: http://savethearcades.stridegum.com/ So... yeah, you should totally play this game and help them out.

How bout we do one of those random team 2v2's tournaments like the ones they do in Japan? It's not too serious so it doesn't need a serious entry fee (2 bucks or so?). I dunno, might be fun.

if you take a break you lose good habits too

usually you'll just end up making your game for basic, due to forgetting about certain quirky things that can happen and the situations they can occur in, as well as forgetting match ups

but the gimmicks are what make the greats great

it's better to just make an effort to be more patient, both during and after the match

I was thinking of taking a break since I've gotten worse and what I hate is not only not improving but making REVERSE progress. But wow, you pretty much pinpointed exactly what I feel like my problem is. :vbang: I definitely backslided in some areas and I forgot some things I used to do in certain situations... like I can REMEMBER doing things but it's like something on the tip of your tongue that you can't grasp. I had Jin's pressure all figured out but now I'm back to the stage where I just get pushed into the corner and raped until I'm dead.

How do you guys train yourselves to do things? For instance, I used to 6A any jump ins on reaction every time, but now I just watch them come at me and don't do anything. I'm like, "Oh, they're IAD'ing at me. Isn't there a move I should do? ... ... Oh, 6A. But they might be distancing themselves far enough to punish me for a whiffed attempt, maybe I should just block," and then by the time I go through all that they're already all over me.

Training mode doesn't work per se since it's different when I'm just expecting them to jump in on a repeated basis...

I guess I just have to grind out a ton of matches until I can reclaim lost ground.

Don't think "Oh, they're IAD'ing at me."

Think before hand.. "IF they IAD at me, I'm going to 2C that shit."

Have a plan for what you think they're capable of at that point.

Weigh out their options, and try and defend against what you think their best one is going to be.

Be ready to react before there's actually something to react to.

I think I can make it to preeetty much any time on that weekend James, you're probably going to have to reschedule it to Friday morning at 10 AM

Another key thing, though difficult to explain, is to get yourself in a mental state where you can actually apply this sort of plan. In my own case, I cannot count the number of times I've gone into a match with a very specific plan in mind, only to find myself floundering about in auto-pilot mode when the actual match happens. (Especially during some of my matches on sunday :vbang:)

As far as format goes, I like the notion of random 2v2 teams a lot.

I've been playing this online for them and I live on the east coast. Even though its not near me, any arcade needs to stay open at this point

It's because those arcades are full of exactly these cow games on this website; AI is full of fighting games. Naturally, those who already play those games for fun will be more dedicated to it. Lol.

Also, Shin, Friday nights at AI are pretty happening. Good luck with parking, though.

@Shin

Usually Friday nights are great, Saturday nights are pretty good too. Get there early for parking. I usually go there around 6-8pm and stay there until midnight with friends :D

Thanks to both of you. Haven't been to AI in a dog's age but I do remember parking being a pain in the ass. Again, thanks for the 411.

To Everyone:

Look forward to playing y'all (old and new players alike!)!!!

If you plan on heading down there, let me know and we'll carpool or some shit.

Sounds great! I'll probably starting in about a week or so, finals week (and the end of college) is upon me but I'll definitely drop you a line.
