Tong Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I dont get you people, there's no real question to why LK lost do Spark's Haku. Spark was the better player and outplayed everyone. Almost nothing to do with tiers.
Mightfo Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Titanium, you also have to keep in mind that you play Ragna, who seems to have rather risky, mediocre offense, so that probably colors your take on BB's offense/defense balance. also, i don't feel like most recent fighters are too defensive, judging by EVO and japanese play and stuff. Not everything has to be GG.
Mumm-Ra Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 discuss pls after Evo 2011 what did you think made spark successful with Hakumen? congratulations btw Easy, Spark is asian, whereas LK is not.
atdsutm Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Easy, Spark is asian, whereas LK is not. lol, here comes america vs japan thread again.
Rhiya Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Random question: why do I not see a lot of people trying to 2A out of pressure? Shit makes me sad, I can't run frametraps unless people are mashing.
Kuuhaku Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 lol, here comes america vs japan thread again. Dude... Spark is Chinese.
StarGazer Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 is it normal that i practice makoto and play with her for like 100 hours while the rest of my characters are like 20 hours and they still better than my makoto :/ what? am i bad by nature in makoto? does it take more time to be broken? oh btw guys unless it wasn't tager the game is very balanced and hardly any tire list exist imo but i do see match ups are annoying more than tire lists :p
Nini Heart Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 LK, how did you keep your nerves under control at evo? Do your shades help in some manner or the other? Why do you have so much swag?
WolfCrimson Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Shades are to keep his Terminator eyes unseen.
atdsutm Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) Dude... Spark is Chinese. they all look the same to me.lol, Chinese and Japanese. we cares really lol, Edited August 1, 2011 by atdsutm

Airk Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 they all look the same to me.lol, Chinese and Japanese. we cares really lol, Protip: All white dudes look the same too. So do all black dudes. In fact, most people can't tell other people apart at all.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 lol did you even watch the finals Maybe he missed all the burst baits and purple throws. And left the room when he switched to Makoto:psyduck: Props to LK though for eliminating Tokido the first time. I'm surprised he was able to play with shades on, and still kept them on whether he was losing or winning. LK, is it true what the commentators said about you blocking overheads, you block based off rhythm and when there is a pause you do standing block, because it's most likely an overhead?
ryokoalways Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Those weren't burst baits. They were just bad bursts. LK was not bursting at the correct burst points, or in the cases where he was bursting at the correct burst points, he was bursting way too slow. It's a big issue since using burst correctly can halt Hakumen's offensive with much greater effect than other characters, which means more chances for you to go on the offensive. And switching character was waving the white flag. It's ill-adviced in BB (it's entirely possible to learn 2 characters well since the learning curve is low, but LK obviously isn't at top level with Makoto), and it is suicide in GG. This isn't SF.
mAc Chaos Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Bursting when you're so high in the air against Hakumen is like bursting during an air juggle against Lambda. You just fall right into his sword.

I thought this^ While watching LK play. Seems he didn't have too much Haku exp and its bad enough that he had to fight someone like spark who was just chilling at yomi layer 3.
mAc Chaos Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I thought he did well against Spark last time at EVO. Something was different this time though. Maybe he just psyched himself out.
A.X.I.S. Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 LK tried to do everything right but Spark was just better. Hakumen is a mixed bag on wake up so he had to be very careful. When fighting Haku you have to approach safely and unpredictably. Spark was playing everything right, he even cut the staff.
destruction_adv Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I'm currently trying to level up my mix up/pressure game, but I always overestimate my opponent's defense so I was wondering how to gauge my opponents defense. If it helps at all, i'll mention that I main Bang. While i'm at it how do i gauge my opponent's offenese? I guess a better way to ask is how to recodnize good and bad pressure
Nini Heart Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Spark's defense was just too solid. Some of the stuff he blocked just blew my mind. There's not much you can do when you play a mixup character and all your mixups and setups are getting blocked/punished. How do I block like that @_@

How do I block like that @_@ Lots of exposure and experience with said mixup is the #1 thing you need. Spark also has fast reaction speeds but being seasoned against the character helps. Play more!
Airk Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Play more! I should publish a book entitled "How to get better at fighting games". It would be two pages long, with "Play" on one page and "More" on the next.
Delrian Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 That way people can pick it up and put it down, having learned the best lesson there is to learn.
