mAc Chaos Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Honestly the idea of "tiers" is probably outdated. It should be an individual list of match-ups for each character. i.e. Tager has his own tierlist of matchups against every other character depending on whether it's favorable or not. You mean a matchup chart?
Chaoschao222 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 From what I remember it wasn't a "bad" matchup so much that Noel players had to VS Tager differently than other characters so they got murdered for auto piloting. It was still sorta a 'bad' matchup regardless of hwo the Noel played, Noel still had every issue she normally has with Tager, she just got more damage off her successes, Noel's design just doesn't work well against Tager's.

You are talking about the matchup chart In theory every tierlist comes from a matchup chart but sadly that has not been the case lately Tiers serve to show how strong are or at least are percieved the chars The matchup chart serves how every char fares against each other
Star-Demon Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) How can you think the dan rankings mean anything when some players clearly play way more than others? Matchup chart would be fine if there was a single arcade machine that everyone played on. OR if all of Japan's selected player matches were aggregated. Good luck with that not being run like a country club. S: Bullet, Litchi, Makoto A: Tsubaki C: Rachel, Platinum D: Noel, Carl Edited January 30, 2013 by Star-Demon
Errol Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 For what it's worth, on the rankings page Goro is listed as 14th Dan, but on his profile page it actually says 15th Dan (as of 5 days ago). I would also assume it doesn't display the dan rankings on their profile as "maxed" achieved and is instead their current highest rankings, I think it'd be kinda weird to have your max shown since it could go up or down at any given time. So either the Top 150 rankings aren't as updated as players individual profiles or vice versa. Or it does in fact display maxed Dan ranking achieved no matter if it drops, which would be strange in my opinion. Profiles display max dan ranking ever reached, not current.

zeth07 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Profiles display max dan ranking ever reached, not current. I still don't think that's true. I've been keeping track of the Azrael players and have them sorted by Dan ranking. There are quite a few players who I have listed as a Dan higher than what their current profile says, meaning they dropped since I last updated. Since it is more than one player that this is a case for, I'm sure it wasn't just my own organizational error since I don't think I'd mess up that many times. To my knowledge it shows the "highest" current Dan achieved. Meaning if a player plays multiple characters (like Galileo), it will display the highest rated one on their initial profile page.

And it includes the character in it.

Here's PRF Army's: http://sp.bbcp.ac/member_profile_view.php?user_id=4209 His highest is Hakumen at 13th Dan so that's what is displayed, but he's also played Azrael who is 8th Dan. As an example of what I was talking about it for it not being maxed. I have Dogura listed as 13th Dan. Yet both the Top 150 and his profile show him as 12th Dan. A few other players are like this, and I don't think I'd mess up that many times.

Chaoschao222 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Well Tao and Haku, anyways, which makes sense.
mAc Chaos Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 They all have Jin too. I thought they all also had Valk, didn't see Litchi.
Errol Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I don't think I'd mess up that many times. You might want to double check I guess. That number never goes down. Konan's has displayed 15 ever since he got 15 (and actually showed as dan 15 in the rankings), even after he dropped to 12 and then to 9 (and subsequently saw people talking about him having dropped to 9 on twitter and such). You'll find lots of players where that number is higher than the one listed in the rankings. Find me one where that number is lower than in the rankings.
Nemesis Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 can someone in a nutshell give me an explanation of how this new ranking system works? im really at a loss

On 01/22/13 when I last updated the Azrael players in the video thread, I have Ogami as 14th Dan and the ONLY one at that rank at the time for Azrael. Now his profile is showing 12th Dan. I'm sorry to say but there's no way I'd mess up the difference between him being 14th Dan and 12th Dan considering he was the only one. But either way since I've been updating it every once in a while, since you brought it up, I'll be sure to make an extra note of it when a player's rank goes down from when I update it again. can someone in a nutshell give me an explanation of how this new ranking system works? im really at a loss I can't tell you specifically but it's probably +3 = rank up , -3 = rank down. Probably have to play people within the same rank. Edited January 30, 2013 by zeth07
Devdan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I haven't fought any real Tao's yet, but I was playing score attack route D, and nearly lost to Tao who was mostly projectile spamming, it was really weird. I don't like it.

Mumm-Ra Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Could just be a bug in the system. Talking about bugs, why is Azrael so fucking buggy?
C0R Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Talking about bugs, why is Azrael so fucking buggy? He's a new character, with new mechanics.
Mumm-Ra Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 No other new character in the series has had as many (retarded looking, at least) bugs though.
C0R Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 No other new character in the series has had as many (retarded looking, at least) bugs though. In a world of blockable throws, fullscreen throw reject, fastfalls, instantaneous guardbreak via 2a and icecar rc infinite momentum; his stuff isn't overwhelming.

And just as before it seems like playtime matters as much as skill. Well, up to a certain point at least.
