If you aren't familiar with the GG system, learning reload would be fine to start I think (especially if you don't have comp around and want to play some online), but once you get AC you should probably drop reload.
BTW as much as bugging Aksys is great, it's ASW that would have to actually port the game over, even if Aksys supports the idea 100% it doesn't mean ASW would pay any attention (seems from interviews they're busy enough as it is with their current projects)
Thanks for comin down wuku so we could play gg casuals! Too bad for school or i would have gone to the tourney and stayed later sunday. Btw i will crush your korean pride in sc anytime! Nice to play vet too, too bad you two live so far :[
When you start you should try to find a video showing a combo before you try to do it from notation alone, at least until you have a better understanding of that char's moves. Combo notation often leaves out details about spacing or timing that is assumed to be known.
You can be punished with anything during those recovery frames after using j.D or some air specials that give you landing recovery (if you don't jump cancel again before landing), but even normally I think the person on the ground is always favored to throw.
Command grabs have more range and some startup so its easier not to use too early on opponents wake up or blockstun. Gg is not like bb or even sf4, you will only get throw break if you meant to throw yourself, the window is too small to react with it. Instead, use 1f jump or backdash to escape. When you land there are a couple frames you can be thrown but not throw yourself i believe (probably due to the ground state right before you land like how you can cancel low air moves directly into specials)
So many people with such a terrible grasp of the game posting in here.. Seeing as this is the gameplay forum ill just lock the thread if it continues to be people just bitching about their character and others arguing with them to no effect.
America will never have any significant amount of people willing to pick up and take seriously a japanese "anime-style" fighter. GG requires actual effort and thought to learn and enjoy, leaving it with not nearly a big enough player base to sustain itself as it becomes an "old" game.
That's exactly what I just posted about, it works on any character as long as you hit with the later part of youzansen that hits behind her...
Wow, I never thought I'd be linking this video again haha. Bad quality and it's Slash, but at :20 you can see what it should look like.
The only way to combo from a youzansen without using an RC (and is still the case) is to hit with the end of the move, which hits behind/below her. Most common use back then was doing double youzansen (after hitting behind her with the end of the first one, do another one facing them) although in similar situations now you can link a j.D afterwards (it doesn't come up nearly as often since youzansen is seldom used in combos now, although I actually found myself connecting with it a few times after improvising from running jump j.S hits (especially CH) that are at a bad height to follow with j.D). In comparison it's way stronger now since if it's early in the combo at all you can simply FRC the j.D and continue for big damage.
You can never combo from a youzansen that hits in front of you (aside from ID lol) without RC.
buri probably just came from the Japanese reading of bridget, which starts with buri. In the future put all non-gameplay related GG related posts in the general guilty gear forum, and more specifically general questions about GG in the general guilty gear question thread.
I guess its worth adding here for those that dont know that you can cancel to ground or air specials as well during jump startup, most notably (airborne)badlands, youzansen, obviously mappa, some others that are good to know
I wouldnt call the matchup even, if the slayer stays patient there is a good chance he'll find somewhere to get in. Simply baiken dies too fast and slayes doesn't die fast enough and can't really be kept under pressure. The lower the level of play the easier it gets for baiken though. But just like against pot and jam losing from 1 mistake or risk is rough.
