Yup. That's why we always have to use SB Bufu > (Whiff) 2C if we want to end a combo in Wail. Otherwise, we don't get the damage boost.
-
Ah, you must not have understood what I meant by SB Bufu > (Whiff) 2C. You have to whiff the 2C first before you can go into AoA after the SB Bufu. The last 2C isn't physically hitting the opponent. Those two are trolls. They just wanted to mess with me while I was streaming, haha. Made me watch it live so they could hear my reactions
-
They aren't airborne by the time you hit them with AoA, so I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Can you explain this to me? I think the fact that Liz doesn't get much if she does hit you off of said dash-cancel or if she catches you with Randomizer will prevent most players from worrying about either. If they mash out or react in order to punish you, Liz is forced to rely on her poor defensive options again (assuming you pressed a button after the dash cancel). In theory, it should work with proper conditioning. Off-topic: I'm so mad at these two, you guys don't even know lol Wtf is this

Hey, that Liz made it to grand finals! He/she's legit! *cough* Not pressing buttons in certain situations against Narukami makes sense. What doesn't make sense, however, is pressing buttons in the air against Narukami when you refuse to do so while on the ground. Almost everything Liz can do in the air without it being a well angled j.B or a j.A/j.2B AA will lose to his buttons. Narukami's 2B still frees our air options, and yet the player preferred to eat 2Bs and CH 2Bs instead of trying to play footsies and stall for meter. He doesn't have 5D oki now...the game won't just be over if he touches us, even with the damage boost :/
-
Edit1: The liz started with j.B and then did 5B > 5C > 5D instead of going for a crouching confirm (just rewatched it). Edit2: One of the rare places where we would have actually seen AoA > OMC > Wail if the Liz actually noticed at 3:38: Here The Liz could have done 2C > Mind Charge > 2C > SB Bufu > (Whiff) 2C > AoA > Wail to end the round.

What...what goes through people's minds when they play this character? I really want to know now. *Has 100+ SP* *Lands crouch confirm* *Does 5C > 5D anyways* There's a reason I can't complain anymore. None of the stuff I'm watching is Liz's fault lol

Doesn't fit in the video thread, so I'll post it here. Our goddess is at least somewhere. Still holding back, too. That DP should have IK'd. All Hail Golden Liz

It's not something you want to make a habit out of against decent Naoto players. They actually won't shield you there, and you'll end up getting thrown or CH. I only like going for poison to catch someone sleeping fullscreen, after SB Agi, after Bufudyne in the corner, and after a OMB if I need it to kill. I'll sometimes do it after SB Zio in the corner, too. Um...I'll upload a video for it in a bit, I guess. You're basically just inputting D Garu as soon as the 5B recoils/vacuums after hitting them. It's the same as if you were trying to D Garu a crouching opponent: 5B > (wait for the 5B to pull them towards you) D Garu > loops
-
It was mostly b/c the players up against the Liz didn't know how to punish all the bad persona calls. Nobody punished the Liz for doing B Zio right in their faces, either. It's kinda sad once you think about it
-
If you have the timing for it down, aren't getting murdered by netplay, and are close enough to the corner...*cough* you can omit the 2ABs to get one more rep of D Garu at the end iirc. So it'd be something like: 2C > B Zio > 5B > D Garu > 2A > 5B > D Garu > 2A > 5B > 2AB > D Garu > 2A > 5B > 5C > 2C > B Bufu > Ender I'll confirm/deny it in a bit. Sounds interesting. I'll go check out that video in a bit.

As far as meter vs damage optimization goes, this is more important for corner carry than it is optimal. Optimal would be to just go for: adj.B > j.A > 2B/5B > Gurren > 2B/5B > 2A > 3C if you're midscreen so as to conserve your meter for when you can confirm something without any A normals. It should be optimal near the corner iirc. You can go for: adj.B > j.A > 2B/5B > Enma > j.C > 5C > 2C > j.2A > dj.2C > 5A > j.B > j.2A > dj.C > (Delay) Agito or: adj.B > j.A > 2B/5B > Enma > j.C > 5C > 5C > Gurren > 5C > 3C

Will be streaming in a few minutes here If there's still room when you show up, feel free to join Edit: I heard you were leaving anyways, but sorry Elochai. My setup just froze and bugged out on me lol

You can also cross them up during it if timed properly with an air turn > air back dash > j.A. I usually run forward and then do an aerial backdash or do air turn > air back dash > air turn > 50/50 to confuse people. Do you mean Shuffle Time combos in general? If not, then don't read anymore :P If so...it's not worthless in the slightest, lol. It works on CH as well, first off. You get a knockdown and/or oki off of it and 2k+ damage meterless. I've won at least 5 games today b/c I landed this very confirm. You can even Hama off of it and kill people if you're feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Whether you like to admit it or not, being able to deal the damage that Hakumen does without having to confirm that you caught someone with a counter would be silly. All you'd have to do is make the read. If you're wrong, you either do or don't get punished b/c his drives don't have a lot of recovery (outside of pre-patch 6D). If you're right, you don't have to react to the fact that you're right...the counter does the rest for you. I myself used to think that was somewhat silly. You get meter for being right and a free combo without having to visually confirm that it landed. And this is off of a reversal: a defensive option. With the way it is now, you have to give up that magatama you would normally get in addition to the combo in past games just to do said combo, one that won't even connect if you didn't confirm that the drive caught them in a position where you can follow-up (or you can just guess if you want). You can always opt for a 5D/2D into Shippu if you choose to do so, but that actually has a downside, as it deprives you of 3 magatama overall. I think that's completely fair.

Gonna put a room up in about 10 minutes. Will be streaming it here

The "screw the rules, you can't do that at neutral!" tool post-patch? It's gonna be harder to punish it if you just throw it out there.
-
That's the way Lizzie works. You have to mindgame the heck out of your opponent with your tools that may or may not be active on the screen. I think I talked with some people about Zio oki being strong and not seeing it enough. It's kind of weird the way most of the Liz players use it. 236A OMC > 5C > stuff probably does work in the corner still. I don't see why it wouldn't. Wallstick, wallbound, wallbind, etc. People will more often than not understand what you mean. Anyways, 236AB has a lot of potential in general that I feel we don't see enough b/c of the lack of meter management from most of the Liz players we've seen. I know they want to get things started, but sometimes you just have to be patient and not blow all your meter. I want to see them contest air approaches and ground approaches more with less meter and using better angles on their air normals. Would go a long way at the end of the day.
-
That was for P4A specifically. The same can arguably be applied to P4U2 in any situation where we can do air hit 5C > 2C or air hit 5C for meaty Agi. But, it's not like we see Liz players in Japan experimenting, so... The only difference is that we'd have to adjust our timings for the Agis, as they work differently in P4U2. The mixup/pressure we get off of them would most likely be altered as well, with the use of more resources being a possibility. Hmm, now that I think about it...new A Zio has a slight wall bounce, doesn't it? Has anyone in the videos we've linked ever attempted to OMC A Zio after a 5C on a grounded opponent and then attempt to follow-up with 5C > 2C? I just randomly thought of that...and now I'm wondering if that would work, though there might not be enough time to land the 2nd 5C :/

PSN: OmnixAisuno Timezone: CST State: Louisiana Will j.C stuff. Will 3C stuff. Will Grab > OD > Death stuff. Be prepared...*cough* ...Will probably actually use Makoto instead of Hakumen *cough* -
With C Agi, though? That's the one I use. The whole point of that is to push them to the corner while you run in for free or punishing/pressuring them for trying to tech over the incoming flames. And even if I do D Agi or C Agi near the corner and they do indeed delay tech to avoid the flames, I still get free pressure on their wake-up since the opponent is usually near the corner at that point (and so am I). Also, it's not like you want to do SB Zio > Agi if they have the means to punish or avoid it. It's a decent option to use every blue moon, though. Strangely enough, I can get these to work consistently enough on players that know the MU due to conditioning. I try to mixup my strats a lot and pick-up on habits as quickly as possible so that Liz isn't read like an open compendium.
