  1. Not sure it I'll be able to go with you guys to UFO for various reasons that may come up. I'll look into it though. Oso, you better learn that stick boi! In other news, I ran through all 26 episodes of Umineko and I have to say, my favorite part of this series is trollfaces. So-Many-Trollfaces~ And cross-references.
  2. Don't live with my dad. He probably wouldn't say anything anyway.
  3. Rose? Actually, my mom was just suggesting that I could get a PS3 and then said no animu games. I asked what equals anime and she says SF is fine and specifically b&hammers BB. I guess she knows what's up like the rest of the SRK crowd. She also mentioned me possibly going to some college like 2 hours south of Dallas. :scared:
  4. I'd imagine you want that RC right when they are hit by j.214D. Might be a good idea to set up your fingers so they are really close to ABC so you can just tap D then immediately do the RC(sort of like plinking?). I would imagine putting on that extra damage is very spacing dependent as well so try to get an understanding of what space allows you to do that follow up. I believe any combo ending with the jDDs can use that follow up so that can make it easier to practice. To be honest, I would only use up that 50 meter if it was for the kill and they had no bursts. Otherwise I would just use the big sword super since you have to be pretty close for that to connect too and it's easy, burst safe damage.
  5. Probably not coming unless I get a ton of work done these next few days and even then it's up in the air... Also, when I first saw HARP3s on Amazon for that price I thought they were staying that low forever. :8/: Well, maybe I'll pick one up next year or something.
  6. Isn't that sort of the point? How is that a bad thing? People get drawn in by the ability to use beginner mode. Then if they like the game and eventually decide to get better, there's one more player who starts learning the game for real. It's just a stepping stone for people who might be intimidated by the mechanics or something. Top players have nothing to lose.
  7. So... many... things happening. x_x I'm pretty hype for MB. Really well balanced game with mirror matches that aren't really mirror matches.
  8. Someone told me on youtube (forgot who and what vid) that beginner mode is allowed at Japanese tournaments. I see no problem with allowing it other than it might discourage the American scene to actually learn the game. Which means an overall weaker player base blah blah free ect. On the other hand, tournament organizers can get more revenue by allowing it. I just hope nobody gets salty when they get comments like...
  9. ...So yes, you missed something. Also, I put up a little note to a localization company about this game. Hopefully they'll notice it and some magic will happen.
  10. Yes.
  11. Finally a game I can practice and enjoy that's not MBAC! The system sounds pretty complex but I'll probably get used to it. Looks like there are robots too. Time to DL this sucker and pull an all-nighter watching it.
  12. I would avoid Backward compatible PS3s. They have a frame or two of lag and even used ones cost a ton. I'd suggest getting the old model with a small HD and then buying a new, larger HD to put in. It's not that expensive and you get MORE space. It's also easy to install. Just need a screwdriver.
  13. Carl is a very strong character so he's defiantly worth learning. As you already noticed, you're going to have to learn how to control Nirvana a lot to get better. Probably lurk around the Carl threads for hints and watch some Carl players in action like Zong_One. Lambda can be a strong character as well and imo she's very beginner friendly since you have fewer normals/specials than other cast members. She'll also help you get into the swing of execution and understanding how to use your (limited) options. Something else, I notice you're in Brooklyn, NY. If you haven't already, check out the match making and event boards for your local scene because I'm pretty sure there are a ton of players in your area that can give you tips and experience.
  14. Hi. Glad to see the meetup went good. Just a few more weeks till I'm able to try stopping by again. I'm sure some(?) of you guys might have seen this already but there was an interesting video on eventhubs about a modified keystick. The guy talked about some of the advantages and... I am intrigued. Since I plan on getting more buttons anyway, I actually have just enough snap-ins to try this out. If you're already confused about keysticks, prepare to be mind-fucked by this.
  15. Well, part of it could be netplay lag. That's a general explanation for nearly everything... I can imagine it being much harder to mash out a tech on a pad though and it's probably not even advisable to do that in a live tournament setting (thought that's not the point). Best tip/theory I could probably give is when you see part of the combo blue-beat, remember it assuming you didn't succeed in teching. Then if you're getting combo'd again, wait till just before the hit they dropped before and mash out there. Also make sure to think about which direction you want to tech or you'll get hit by whatever they dropped anyway in some cases.
  16. Sort of off topic, but... I recall hearing you used to play SC4. How was it starting out when you moved to BB?
  17. Hey buddy... Y U Floatin'? :8/: Also.
  18. You have won the avatar war sir.

  19. This trailer looks really- *sees Platinum* HHHNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
  20. When I had an octo, I found it way easier to TK things because the gate just naturally rolled to each position. Square gate made me feel like I was doing far more work to get past corners. Really, it's all a matter of preference when you get down to it. I'd suggest sticking with a square if you want to play it safe and save the $5.
  21. It's USPS. Thanks mightbro.
  22. Good news everyone~ I got $62 now so I'm covered for my buttons and stick... However, since my PS3/PC pcb broke, I need to save up a bit more so I can get a cuthulu board and then I'll look around for cheap 360 Madcatz pads. I woud get a cheap PS3 controller but with that firmware 3.5 disabling some 3rd party controllers, I'd rather not take the chance. >_> Since I'm rambling on about this anyway, my mom will get POd if she sees a box of wonders arrive at our door so could a get my stuff dropped off at someone elses place and pick it up during a meetup or something?
  23. I was thinking one for Garterbelt too. He gets no love.
  24. + Sickle Storm faster start up + Sickle Storm hits 6 times now + Sickle Storm catches airborne opponents causing them to bounce. + Act Parser A crosses through opponent at close distances More theory-fighter here, but couldn't these changes allow us to do 236D cross-ups or other silly gimmicks? Also, thanks for putting all this info into one spot away from the general loketest thread.
  25. Ohh, that looks really- Where are my eyes?
