I haven't heard you say one positive thing about this game in this thread.

There's nothing of any substance or any real relation to the game even being talked about in this thread. It's mostly speculation, gushing and inquiries. I wouldn't have poured 2 years of my time into the competitive scene of this game if I didn't enjoy playing it.

It's nowhere near close to perfect, I do have real problems with the actual gameplay but I still saw enough good in the game to keep playing. I'm rather excited for this update.

The balance is good and i actually belive that they achieved it well without needing to go the capcom route of neutering everything good of the cast and making them.

Well they did sort of neuter Makoto, that's one character that I know of.

the key word is the "cast" ;D

but yeah, they went overboard with her nerfs

I don't know who said Extend was boring. I still love Extend, but glad they are making a new game.

Also about the music. I think every Blazblue track is godlike, even Black Onslaught. It's way better than the Guilty Gear music. (although that was good too)

Makoto is part of the cast, so not sure what you mean? The other remaining rushdown character is Ragna, so...

p.s.

And also, with Makoto going down, so did pace of the game.

Now you are being foolish

let me rephrase it, they don't balance their games nerfing to oblivion the whole cast (like capcom usually does)

And also, with Makoto going down, so did pace of the game.

LOL

You can rushdown with almost every character, but Makoto and Ragna were the purest rushdown chars, IMO. Don't hang me if I'm wrong.

I guess I quit BB for now because I felt like my Tager game wasn't going anywhere with online being my only option, and I didn't feel like learning a whole new character. Not just their moves, combos, and general tactics, but every single matchup all over again. That's both the blessing and the curse that "every character is really unique" fighters (read: arcsys fighters) brings to the table. A blessing because it's cool and its great that every character is so uniquely interesting, but a curse because its daunting to pick up a new character at high levels of play.

I'm tired and rambling.

I never had an option other THAN online play. I tried to get my friends into it, but they're all ass and don't put any time into it. And one of my friends is so bad at fighting games he couldn't even complete Jin's horrendously basic combos. It was like 4 hits if I'm correct. Then the online itself always had at least some lag to it, so I could never feel fully invested in it, especially as Hakumen, when you really can't afford lag. Always had to play with a friend white chatting to tell him the reason I was randomly sucking.

Just got sick of it, hopefully CP has CT's netcode.

You can't really blame them, spending time learning how to play a game and practicing hours upon hours is not something the average person would do. That's why I don't even try to persuade any of the people I know into playing fighting games at a competitive level. Hell, getting them to play the game at all is an achievement on its own lol.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle making combos "shorter" without completely butchering the character's gameplan.

BB just needs to be a faster game in general. Faster combos, more dmg, etc.

P4A simply delivered in that area and we're all over it because it's the one thing that was missing in BB since CT. They really do need to up the ante in the pacing department, as much as I like the style of the combos we've seen in EX. Maybe even cut stage length a bit. I dunno, just make it fun like CT was (sans balance issues, of course) and it'll all be good.

As for balance, it's a necessary element if you want the game to be taken seriously. It certainly can equate with fun so long as the game's other elements complement each other.

From what I've seen, making BB faster is what ArcSys is trying to do with CP; they're trying to go for shorter combos, and in the loketest footage I saw, animations seemed a little quicker and players fell faster, but I guess we'll wait til we get more/better footage to confirm these.

Not little, they've reduced hitstops to a half at least! Makoto's corner BnB looked delightfully fun and dynamic, getting air stuff hit after hit instantly with no pausing... that's exactly what present BB lacks and what you all guys are discussing. I guess Arc heard everyone, and tried to make a move.

BBEX is still IMO one of the best competitive fighting games ever, greatly polished in terms of defense/offense play style switching.

I must be the only person who likes fighting games were matches take a long time.

@Cryingvoid: oh right hitstop, that was the term I was looking for. And yeah, the faster feel of combos could be pretty cool, although it might take some getting used to (at least for me)

@Agni: I don't mind it either way, although I'm interested in seeing what a faster-paced BB would be/feel like

It's usually less about the actual time taken in matches and more about what is happening during the time. Watching Litchi combo for 15 seconds to get 3-4k is rather mind-numbing after the 5th time. Or CS Haku vs Tager and it's just Haku doing his 4C or whatever it was for 99 seconds.

I honestly don't even think they need to increase damage. The "need meter for midscreen damage" paradigm in Extend isn't really a bad thing. They just need to pack the current damage into shorter combos and reward using multiple different normals/specials in said combos. (Loops are usually pretty boring to watch happen.)

Also, there's like 0 reason to attempt to call out people for music taste lol. Completely subjective topic.

Yeah, that did get annoying. I remember watching Spark vs. Lord Knight at EVO and my god, those Litchi and Hakumen combos took FOREVER.

Marvel is a dumb game nonetheless and therefore we should not be talking about it in a BB thread.
