Errol Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 it didn't use 1 wind, it used all wind nm, I am wrong! But from CS1 to CS2, they literally bumped the damage on like every normal she has by a couple hundred points I think. You can watch some old CS1 vids of Rachel's playing against Bang? Lol. it is bad. Like, what, why would anyone ever play this character at all. Bad bad bad.
TD Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I had to play mu during that time. Very very depressing era of Blazblue indeed. Though mu did her part and won me a shiny trophy, and proceeded to get dumb two games in a row afterward. Looking back though, one would wonder, should he be frustrated with the past game or bored with the current one. Definitely bored. Unless cp rachel was in cs and cs rachel didn't exist at all. Tsubaki was definitely worse and tager is tager at this point, he defines low tier in this game.
Surf Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 So Rachel has had ioh's in every iteration except CS1? Tbh why the hell does she have them in the first place.
Narroo Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I know what you're saying, but I don't, actually think this has anything to do with them being 'new' or 'less unique' or whatever. It just has to do with there being more characters. For example, if you went back in time and altered CT so that instead of Ragna, Jin and Bang, it had Tsubaki, Bullet and Makoto, you wouldn't have reduced how original each character in CT felt. And when you later added in Ragna, Jin and Bang you'd start to think "Well, the new characters just aren't as unique." it's because there are only so many fundamental game plans in fighting games; Roughly, I'd say there's "Standard Footsies" "Standard Rushdown", "Highly Mobile", "Zoning", "Trap/Setup." and "Grappler" and... that's about it. So once you have more than... maybe 8 or 10 characters, you're just working on variations within those archetypes, and no matter what you do, characters are going to start feeling more similar than they did when there were only 8. Now, to be fair, I DO think that characters whose drive is basically a "Normal with special properties" like Ragna, Jin, and Azrael, are less inherently differentiated from characters that get a more nonstandard Drive, but that's just my opinion. I agree; having more characters makes it harder to differentiate them, especially when the goal of the game is just to simply hit someone. Although, I will say that it's not just the drive which differentiates the characters. Tager doesn't play anything like Platinum, for instance. Drives can make a huge difference though, like with Hazama.

chzchan Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 So Rachel has had ioh's in every iteration except CS1? Tbh why the hell does she have them in the first place. Because she needs to have zoning ability, incredible oki, and amazing pressure/mixups. Not having the IOH would break this because she has low damage and I hard to play I guess.

(I used Valk as a primary sub in her place after cs1, it seemed fitting for him to pick up all her tiers lol, it was only in CP that she regained her status as my primary sub)

kirbster Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 She had j.2c ioh in CS1 but it was only special cancellable. Meaning the only way to get a proper combo off it was if you had a pole nearby to do sword iris, so it mainly happened in the corner. It was still kinda rare to see.
TD Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 So Rachel has had ioh's in every iteration except CS1? Tbh why the hell does she have them in the first place. Design I guess. It's been in awhile, it's what they want her to have. With the whole wind thing. They tried a different route in cs with jb stuff, and it's still in. Wasn't nearly as effective as any other iteration.> proceeded to get dumb> proceededson Mu wasn't dumb in cs1? She was underwhelming. Her pokes were sort of lame at the time, that 5c being 16 frames hurt her neutral game quite a bit. Mid tier and I loved the oki at the time. Now it's lame. I knew I always pictured you as a Dizzy color Mu for a reason. I guess it was from back then lol. (I used Valk as a primary sub in her place after cs1, it seemed fitting for him to pick up all her tiers lol, it was only in CP that she regained her status as my primary sub) I did play this color until xntrikcat stole my color. Such a nice guy, I wonder how he is.She had j.2c ioh in CS1 but it was only special cancellable. Meaning the only way to get a proper combo off it was if you had a pole nearby to do sword iris, so it mainly happened in the corner. It was still kinda rare to see. oh yeah, she did... It was so lame though.
Errol Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Im assuming your joking no jokes, it's not a coincidence she was trash in the only game she didn't have it, and has been A (not S) ever since
White Man Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I feel like CS1 Rachel was the result of some disagreement among the designers on what direction to take her character. She was extremely powerful in CT because she had a mean rushdown game and could go full offense, OR she could run to the corner and play keep away so effectively that half the cast had virtually no chance of getting in. They knew some aspect of her play style had to get nerfed, but it seems like they had trouble figuring out which direction to take her. Rachel's damage indicates they wanted to make her a pure zoner/trap character, yet her zoning game got hit hard enough that she couldn't rely on that either. Basically, they tried to tie one of her hands behind her back, and over the course of debating which hand, they ended up tying both.

Someone bodied her while nago and gii weren't around. It was a set up.

Airk Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 because CS1. you answered your own question. If that's how it worked, Tsubaki would be SSS+
Master Of Chaos Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Does no one remember CT Rachel The nightmares
StylisH Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Does no one remember CT Rachel The nightmares I joined in Extend
GunBlazer Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Does no one remember CT Rachel The nightmares CT Nu plz
VermilionBird Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I wont play BlazBlue again until normal Ragna is like CT Unlimited Ragna :///This is what you all sound like right now
zaeris Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Does no one remember CT Rachel The nightmaresCt Rachel is rather tame compare to ct arakune and ct Carl that broken piece of c**p
Dreiko Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 CT Carl just had that one infinite reset. He was pretty meh until Dio discovered it.
Mumm-Ra Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Uh... Ct Rachel had Infinite pressure wich broke your defense, remember guys?
Errol Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 So if she lost the ability to do reliable ioh's again shes trash Yup. She's not unreasonable even with it. Well you could try to compensate in some other way, but looking at rachels in CS using their 28 frame overhead in pressure is kind of funny. But yeah if she got 4k and corner carry off 4b and jB then she would probably be fine.
