Adelheid Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Here's a hint: If you want to be at plus and have time to charge at the end of your combo, just end in 22X. I mean, I should think you'd understand the reasoning of why I'd want more than that, what with charge cancelling causing you to gain charges faster for a bit, and 6A controlling their tech method to give you much stronger okizeme. No need to bold things! Makes you sound angry
Errol Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 charge cancels give more charge early on, less later on. since you can get a full charge after a charged 22B, you would get less with a theoretical 6a charge cancel I think. If you use 6a regularly then it wouldn't be a tell for the 22D trap tho, so that'd be nice.
Adelheid Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Yeah it'd be less charge (you could get up to the point where it slows and still have frame advantage, though, so not necessarily too much less). But the sweet oki...
Kiba Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 There really aren't many cast members we CAN go air to air with. I'm trying to think of one and failing. Tsubaki is just not a good air to air character. Relius is also bad air to air according to a post I read by Kurushii. It's not to say don't go air to air, as remaining on the ground is not mandatory. If you are going to go air to air, use j.B or an air grab. j.A is fast but lacks range, and j.C has decent range but has quite a slow startup which means most of the time you'll either lose or trade. j.C on CH has a lot of untechable time too. Just gotta use what works with the situation. Tsubaki is actually quite fun to use in the air.
Errol Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I like to be in the air a lot too.. That's not to say I have great results, but fishing for jC CHs is a lot of fun. Just have to be careful because it's so slow.
BatousaiJ Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Air grabs are really useful and effective in the game, half the time I'm in the air, I'm attempting an air grab trying to yomi where they're going to tech.
Airk Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Air grabs are really useful and effective in the game, half the time I'm in the air, I'm attempting an air grab trying to yomi where they're going to tech. This is totally true, but there are some characters who seem like they beat even my smartest air throw attempts. (Tao, Litchi, often Jin). I definitely need to use j.B more air to air; I use j.C too much because the CH results are too tasty. I don't know squat about Relius air-to-air game, but glancing at the screenshots and frame data, he looks like he basically has the same style air to airs as Tsubaki, though his j.B covers more space and is slower, it covers the same sort of space as our j.BB - i.e. big area, but not much reach. And his j.C is clearly downwards, so yeah. And none of this means you have to "Stay on the ground" it just means you shouldn't chase your opponent into the air. It's a significant difference.
pktazn Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Was anyone saying to not go in the air? Tsubaki has been terrible in that regard since she came out I think but that hasn't stopped anyone from trying things with her there ie Konan and Kuresu. Just have to be cautious and aware that if you're specifically trying to beat out a move in the air, you'll probably lose. I know it was more apparent in CS2 since it was when people were actually playing her lol.
Kiba Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) I may be the one at fault here. A-cho 3/15 Taokaka vs Tsubaki - Why I say don't go air to air with her really. This was said in the video compilation thread but I brought the conversation here in fear of going too far into depth. Though the second sentence in my previous post still stands. Well... against Tao, yea. You just won't win lol.
Daedron Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 *Plays against someone regularly, almost never use 3C* *Starts using 3C and 3CC oki* *Hits with 3C or 3CC about 3-4 times per round* *Watch as 3C gets called a cheap move* Now if only it got it's jump cancel back

Not to mention relius's these days doing TK aerial punches but his air wins if he's higher up in detail i believe
pktazn Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 For anyone interested there are three Tsubakis who made it to BBREV (Kuresu's team wasn't one of them though sadly.) Konan with Poppo and a (kanji is too small for me to even guess his name lol) Norisuke with Ronitta and Dora Asuyama No-mu with Sensei Aruto and Hachihachiri I'm also calling a conspiracy because all of them are in the same damn block odiqosuhznqqloscuhrenwodjh.
Kiba Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Ah I nearly forgot about this. Thank you for the update! @EXonestar: I acknowledged your post but you know me. Sceptical as usual.
Shruikon Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 How many get to advance per block? Also sucks that Kuresu's team didn't make it.
pktazn Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 Only one team per block for a chance at grand finals. There are four blocks with 16 teams in each and all the teams with Tsubaki are in the same block... CONSPIRACYYYYYYY (I know it was luck of the draw but it's still bad luck lol)

If you get hit by like 5k for rolling once, I'd hope to god you don't do it again
Shruikon Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I call them "zoner who does not need to be in the game 1" and "zoner who does not need to be in the game 2" After today's BB session, every other character is now known to me as "dumb character who does not need to be in the game #1-18" But then if that happened the only thing left would be Tsubaki mirrors. And that's also pretty dumb. Actually I did really enjoy fighting Kiba's Jin the other day so he can stay in the game. Problem solved!

Problem solved!meh tsubaki mirrors install and the other player will use dp and the other won't one rushes down and the other one will rush down as well 5B's will clash and astral's well done tsubaki mirror complete

And that's also pretty dumb. Actually I did really enjoy fighting Kiba's Jin the other day so he can stay in the game. Problem solved! Honestly every character in the game is annoying. There are those are are just slightly less annoying than others. Though I'm not gonna bring this into a big debate because some people might get a fit as to why there is BB discussion in the non BB discussion thread. If it can't be helped, I'll just move 'em. You enjoyed playing my Jin? Clearly I was doing something wrong.
Shruikon Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 You enjoyed playing my Jin? Clearly I was doing something wrong. Hah. Probably because I felt like I actually had a good chance of winning that match. Which is a nice change of pace from getting bodied by people clearly weaker than me on ranked.
Shruikon Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I don't like this line of thinking. If they're weaker than you, beat them. Yeah. Play some more games and you'll win. Otherwise, you're worse, and it'd be a stretch to say that you're actually better than them offline. Who knows how they are offline. Yeah, this was the exact reason I hesitated before posting that. I don't mind getting beat over and over again by people who are actually better than me. At all. Kiba, Dae, Hex, all of them could attest to this. But when I have to play a Ragna who's using limited blockstrings and only knows one real combo yet still lose because I can only make a single mistake yet he can make like 5 and still be okay? I know I'm not that good at this game but I can still tell when people are actually weaker than me but get by by how braindead their character is. Like, I am outplaying these people. But it doesn't make a bit of difference until I'm good enough to consistently outplay them enough in order to outplay their character and that's kind of frustrating. Though with how much this frustrates me combined with how I seem to hate fighting most characters and yet I keep coming back to it night after night, I'm apparently some kind of huge masochist so... yeah.
