Not too much.

She doesn't have a real dp. She seems super basic. pressure doesn't seem that strong for that. Fireball seems weak to me. I don't see much in the way of tools. Haven't played any strong ones and general reception seems to be that she is weak. N-O tried her out and stopped shortly after.

Ugh. Christ. Anime game players. "This game has been out for like 12 months! And they've only changed it a LITTLE! It's old and boring now! I'm gonna go play some super unbalanced screwy games that no one will be playing in 3 months."   Seriously? These games aren't that shallow.

but people still play P4U2, and UNiEL, and Xrd :V

Soooooo....yea. It's been 12 months yea, but I don't feel there's really too much of a change to keep me interested. and I say this as someone who uses fucking Ragna and Hakumen, 2 characters who have been consistently good.

Lol all I said was RIP N-O Rachel and the doomsayers came out in full force. Calm down people/

Well, what kind of reaction were you expecting?

Also, it started before your post, you just contributed to the general pessimistic vibe.

My sentiments exactly.  I can't comment on the balance of CP2 because I haven't played it, but saying that more major changes were necessary because the game was getting stale?  Really?  Tell that to the people who still play Darkstalkers, KOF '98, and Marvel 2.  Hell, tell that to the people who were still playing (and enjoying) Accent Core prior to the Plus R update.

More than any other kind of game, fighters need to have longevity.  If CP isn't fun to play after a year, then the game was never fun to play.

>quitting because your top tier/character isn't that stronk anymore

as an almost constant low/mid tier character player, I think that's laughable

that is especially true for the likes of the japanese celebrity players

Well anytime a new version comes people have these thoughts:

Is my character top-tier?  I hope they don't nerf my character.

Is my character low-tier?  I hope they make them better.

Is my character in the middle?  I hope they nerf the better characters.

CP2.0 kind of went like...

My character was top-tier...Now nothing seems to work like it used to.

My character was low-tier...Everything seems to be better but every combo in the past doesn't work.

My character was in the middle...Either nothing significant has changed or I can now just face-roll on buttons and win.  Is this better?

I don't think people like the idea that out of the considered top three, two of them are very basic in gameplay (Ragna, Jin) and the other one is able to zone out other characters so well with little risk (Nu).

What you're describing is NOT tier-whoring, if it was they'd just switch to the best character of each iteration.

We're talking about actually quitting the game here.

And besides, after a certain point, it's perfectly justified to use the better characters since it's hard to survive in the harsh competitive environment otherwise.

When you're a well known player across the freaking world and play for good chunks of money, you're not really playing anymore. You're trying to win.

Play whomever you want. If you're good enough you'll win. I think Koko 1.1 players proved that even if your character is tha gawd, you still don't get a free pass. If you're not good enough with your top tier character anyway, does it really matter?

Agreed.

It wasn't perfect, but character balance was on point. Hell, outside of Tao/Valk vs Tager, no matchup was unwinnable. And I believe that in was the version where no one was considered OP.

Arakune was fucking ridiculous

Some of you have it twisted.  If it was as simple as "My char got nerfed how will I ever adapt?!?!?!?" then that would be one thing.  I can't speak for everyone, but for me I just question why CP2 even needed to happen.  1.1 seemed like it did a decent job of updating the game.  CP2 just feels like an update for the sake of having one, like they're trying to make the game relevant.  If that's truly the case I don't understand at all, because  CP was (and stll is) far from irrelevant, and continues to be very popular.  Most of us have no problem adjusting to the changes (At least, I wouldn't.  I suppose I shouldn't speak for anyone but myself) but again, are these changes really necessary or beneficial to the game?  And as has been said, the two new characters really could have been handled better.  I'm not saying CP2 is gutter shit or anything, but it just doesn't seem like something I want to play, and nobody should ever feel obligated to continue playing a game they aren't interested in.  If you're not making a living off FGs, I can't think of many reasons why you should devote yourself to a game that you don't enjoy.

There was an upper crust of top characters, but there wasn't such a huge gap as there was with Kokonoe or CP2 Nu.

Game looks kinda good to me TBH, just not super hype. There's just not a ton of new stuff, it looks like the same game overall with very minor tweaks. I'm sure a lot of people feel more was taken from their character than was given.

On the subject of Nu, it feels weird to see her doing 4K confirms meterless and midscreen. I feel like that kinda damage runs counter to what a zoner character is supposed to be, but that's just her being outside my schema, not anything particularly wrong I guess.

I guess I've heard about a lot of new stuff, but have seen very little done with it.

Anyway, I suggest what I'd usually suggest at times like these. Hold off 'till you get more info or the actual game.

Ooookay? So maybe they shoulda just left the game at CS? That was pretty popular too.

There was absolutely room for improvement on CP.  The fact that they screwed the pooch again doesn't mean they shouldn't be touching these games.  It just means that, like I keep saying (but apparently not loud enough for anyone from Arc Sys to hear me) - that they need to stop doing this stupid "throw it all in a blender and radically change how the game works." nonsense, regardless of what whiny "I'm bored, it's been six whole months!" fans seem to think.  They need to work at this stuff with a light touch and mostly just address the characters who are too weak. (And characters like Nu2 or Kokonoe 1.X that clearly stand above where they ought.).  There's really no reason to touch mid tier characters at all most of the time.  And yet...

They made my characters so fun that I don't even care that Nu is SSS+++ tier in this iteration. I'd rather have one single super OP character than a bunch of OP characters. I mean I'm still gonna rage when I eat those 4K full-screen combos but meh, not all the Nu players will be able to tap her full potential, even though she looks pretty goddamn brain-dead to play as #nerfgravityseedforstarterspls.

every player will be able to tap 85% of it tho bro. I think I am going to do either valk or nu, I just don't know which atm.  nu is the perfect tier whore choice for this game, but I'm sure she's gonna get nerfed hard in the next version.

Valk tho. Yeah. He's got the scumbag stuff I was going for with Rachel but better and easier neutral and never any critically bad matchups. No real matchup incompatibilities outside of Litchi...

So you didn't have a problem with 1.0 Koko?
